Dr. Seuss’s slippery slope to George Orwell’s “1984”

Please see the National Post article about Dr. Seuss for the background to the below comment.

“Weighed in the balances” on a slippery slope

We are on the slippery slope to George Orwell’s dystopian “1984”. It’s a trend picking up speed to make up for lost time.

We harshly judge our forefathers by our transient standards. And the generation to come will censure our generation as “The generation that killed free speech”.

Do the caricatures in Dr. Seuss expose the prejudice of our fathers and grandfathers?

Perhaps.

But it’s the present trend of censorship that’s worrisome.

Good old-fashioned book burnings wait at the bottom of the slope. At bottom, the ashes of books long burned by Nazis and communists await. They testify against this arrogant generation who have sinned against the light.

“1984”

George Orwell’s book “1984” is an interesting date. I frequently write about 2024 as 70 jubilees from 1406 BC, which is “1260 days” from today. (1406 BC is when Israel entered the Promised Land.)

However, this means that “1984” is 70 jubilees” from the Exodus in 1446 BC!

Has God delayed Orwell’s unwitting prophecy by one generation?

Ponder Proverbs 30:11-14. Note the fourth stage that ends in murder (ch. 30).
